Description: Africa’s population is young and growing into a workforce that will demand employment opportunities and successful careers. Entrepreneurship has been identified as an avenue to create jobs and reduce unemployment on the continent. Many stakeholders are contributing in diverse ways to develop an ecosystem that produces entrepreneurs for the continent. Governments, private, and developmental organizations have concertedly increased access to resources, policies, centers, and systems that foster entrepreneurship training. Albeit considerable challenges, African HEIs are equally on a drive to build systems that unlock the potential of African youth to create and grow businesses. Given the many players and parts of the entrepreneurship ecosystem, identifying HEIsmost efficient contribution to the ecosystem will maximize efforts and resources and help produce better outcomes overall. This speaker session will share some of the most effective ways by which HEIs can efficiently maximize their contribution to improving the outcomes of the larger entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Specifically, the session will address these questions.

  1. What are the various components of the larger entrepreneurship ecosystem?
  2. What is the role of HEIs in the larger entrepreneurship ecosystem?
  3. How can HEI’s maximize their role and contribute to the large entrepreneurship ecosystem?

Target: HEI’s executives, VCs, Provost, CEOs, Venture Accelerators, Government institutions, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders interested in developing entrepreneurs.
