The Ideation Sprint is a two-hour energized, fast-paced idea generation event. It allows educators and administrators to co-create practical solutions to problems and challenges they face in their daily work in African higher-ed institutions. It provides the opportunity for institutions to submit problem statements and receive solution ideas from different participants who are a part of the Convening. The Ideation Sprint brings fresh ideas from educators who are not primarily attached to the problem and leverages collaborative knowledge on the continent to solve the problems.
Target: The Ideation Sprint is open to all higher education institutions that have pre-registered for the Education Collaborative Annual Convening
The Ideation Sprint process:
- Problem Statement: Early bird participants submit a statement of a problem they face in their institution. This statement concisely captures a unique challenge they face in their work and could cover any unit from academic, student services, external relations, finance, admission, etc. The statement should have enough information to be able to think through solutions. [Deadline for submission: April 30]. SUBMIT A PROBLEM STATEMENT
- Sorting: Depending on the number of problem statements submitted, the challenges are sorted for commonalities to create the breakout rooms for each Ideation Table. Here, the facilitator(s) set guiding protocols for idea generations within each room.
- Ideation Table: This is a series of facilitated sessions for educators to put forward ideas, credible options to solve the challenges identified in the problem statements. Each room captures their solution ideas to share in the main session. At least one room rotation will be done for each problem.
