Moving the needle in education means solving today’s problems while creating resources to solve tomorrow’s. The Education Collaborative is working towards increasing accessibility to learning resources through a virtual learning hub.

The hub is hosted online on the education collaborative website at https://educationcollab.ashesi.edu.gh. It will serve as a repository of resources for best practices in education administration and teaching and learning. Online courses and other resources will be available for pre-tertiary and tertiary educators and industry partners. Courses will use a blended synchronous and asynchronous, cohort-based approach and made accessible to network members who subscribe. And resources will be videos, manuals, templates and discussion boards. Content will be curated from educators and administrators in Ashesi, and across the network of institutions in the Education Collaborative.

The hub currently has three ongoing projects. Hands-on STEM Training, Giving Voice to Values for Africa, and a Critical Thinking Course for High School Teachers. In December 2020, the critical thinking course for high school teachers was piloted in preparation for a launch in 2021. 13 teachers from eight high schools in five regions of Ghana took part in the synchronous pilot of the course. High school students preparing for the rigor of tertiary education and the corporate world will face complex decisions every day. This need to prepare them for the corporate world informed the development of the critical thinking training.

The Collaborative will roll out the full course, and others in 2021. Sign up to receive access using this link.
