Started in August 2021, the East Africa Hub brings together The Education Collaborative partner institutions based in Eastern Africa. Starting with 9 institutions, the maiden regional hub of The Education Collaborative is hosted by Rongo University.
Through the regional hub model, The Education Collaborative looks to provide a context-specific blueprint for success through shared experiences from exemplary universities.

Post Convening Grant
The Education Collaborative set up a post-convening grant to provide participating institutions with support to implement insights gleaned from convenings into actual projects.

System's Change Program - Employability
Kepler College and Strathmore University are collaborating institutions in the 18-month systems transformation process designed to fundamentally develop the components and structures of key systems that drive employability outcomes in higher education institutions (HEI).

The Hub Technical Committee consists of liaisons selected by their institutions to champion and advance their institution’s goals and interests in The Education Collaborative. The meeting focuses on sharing and review of projects, initiatives, and upcoming engagements as well as progress on goals and institutional collaborations.

The collaborative framework described in this paper illustrates the effectiveness of pragmatic models in the collaborative inquiry. Two fundamental tenets—congenial and collegial—are used in four cases to highlight key milestones achieved through initiatives and support systems within the East African Hub.

76 higher education executives, administrators, and regulators from across East Africa participated in The Education Collaborative’s inaugural East Africa hub convening, engaging one another on improving educational outcomes and scaling quality within the region.

This post-convening grant is an initiative that provides funding support to institutions driving change on the continent with their initiatives. Projects should aim at implementing specific solutions to identified structural challenges, leading to positive system changes towards improving student-centered development. Riara University, Kenya – Developing a work-readiness program and aligning curricula to job market needs
Cavendish University, Uganda – Building a career-development digital platform to help with internship listing, job supervision, and skills development
Davis College, Rwanda – Piloting a dual-learning model for 40 students in their Hospitality and Tourism Management program
Strathmore University, Kenya – Building the entrepreneurship capacity of 25 community-based headteachers and 25 women micro-entrepreneurs in a local community
University of Embu, Kenya – Developing a twelve-month entrepreneurial program to develop Innovative, Design, Enterprising, Agility and Leadership (IDEAL) skills among university students
