Speaker: Dr. Mary Gentile, Creator, Giving Voice to Values, Darden School of Business, University of Virginia
Synopsis: The emergence and growth of Giving Voice to Values (GVV) has been a significant development in ethics education over the past two decades. GVV has changed the way ethics are taught, discussed, and practiced in educational, government, private, and non-profit settings around the world. Of particular importance has been the application of GVV to leadership education. This is because GVV links ethics education to action: How can we act on our values? How can we develop organizations based on values? How can we act both effectively and ethically? In this keynote presentation, the founder of GVV, Dr Mary Gentile, Richard M. Waitzer Bicentennial Professor of Ethics at the University of Virginia Darden School of Business, will share the origins of the GVV pedagogy, who is using GVV around the world and in Africa, and the linkage between GVV approach and leadership training and outcomes.
