Navigating Ethical Dilemmas 

In a deep dive experience over drinks and networking, participants were players in a role-play experience that brought forward the often-challenging dilemma faced when deciding to take ethical action. Using the GIC Life Insurance scenario, they were immersed in a profound exploration.

The Value of Pan-Africanism in Developing Leaders in African Higher Education Institutions 

As higher education institutions collaborate in the spirit of “Pan Africanism” to prepare ethical leaders who will transform the continent, have institutions considered Pan-Africanism a value to nurture among students? Has the concept been fully understood, and how relevant is it for leadership development in higher education? In this keynote session, Prof. PLO Lumumba, dissected the concept of Pan-Africanism as a value, and its relevance in higher education.  

Proaction Café: The Student Leadership Experience 

The Student Leadership Program is an Education Collaborative initiative to leverage Student Government to champion ethical leadership across higher education institutions. This year, we piloted a personal development session, which was held on June 9th for eleven student leaders’ who served as volunteers for the 2023 June Convening.

Pedagogy and Instructional Design on Values and Ethics Education

In this session, two approaches to ethics education were featured:Giving Voice to Values (GVV) and the Allan Gray Center for Leadership Ethics. These approaches delivered at Ashesi University and Rhodes University, South Africa, respectively, aimed to equip participants to take action that aligns with their ethical beliefs and values.

Developing an Institutional Honor Code: Steps and Approaches to Consider

This session presented the process of establishing an honor system within an institution that ties into its culture and incorporates the voices of its key stakeholders whilst mapping out the various stages of the process and outcomes amongst successes and challenges, which had contributions from university stakeholders.
