Virtual and in-person platforms for sharing innovations and strategies among higher-ed stakeholders in Africa
The Annual Convening is the central platform for all stakeholders in African higher-ed to share innovative resources and strategies for the advancement of the sector. Held in June every year at Ashesi University, the week-long event harnesses the collective expertise of institutions and educators on ways to create an educational system that supports the development agenda of the continent.
The annual convenings thrive on identifying the needs of participants and offers a hands-on approach using the strengths from experts and resources on the continent and beyond. Activities and events are designed to reflect the diversity of our stakeholders and provide the best of impact for the participants. There are learning opportunities for university executives, faculty and administrators, and other stakeholders.
The Executive Conference is a gathering of vice chancellors, presidents, provosts, department heads, or deans of higher education institutions in Africa and beyond, to explore successful blueprints, strategies, and institutional connections in university administration. The day-and-half forum features world leading experts and leaders to share ideas and professionally build competencies of university leaders in leading impactful institutions. The conference is designed for presidents, vice-chancellors, provosts, directors, deans, and industry executives, and has limited slots each year.
Faculty and Administrator Workshop
This 3-year running workshop is the most sort after around administrators and faculty in our network. It is a hands-on intensive engagement of participants in residence, and is held at Ashesi University. The three-and-half-day workshop shares contextualized and successful practices, tools and expertise in educating students to become ethical graduates that transform businesses and lead societies. Sessions are case-driven and reflect the experiences and challenges of faculty and administrators across campuses in Africa. Participants actively share what they are doing at their institutions and seek greater understanding and clarifications from colleagues and experts by questioning and contributing ideas and experiences. Each moment of the workshop experience is designed to model an inclusive modern-day university campus experience. The goal is that each participant and institution present commits to developing further and implementing a set of practical tools or techniques once they return home. Participants engage in:
- Plenary sessions that explore integrated systems of academics and out of classroom competencies for student development and wholeness
- Workshop sessions for personal and professional growth in individuals’ core practice area
- Exclusive networking events
The workshop is designed for lecturers, professors, head of departments, classroom facilitators, faculty trainers, administrators, faculty managers, employers.
Organized regionally in our regional hubs, the University Stakeholder Symposium provides a single platform for all stakeholders in education to share insightful ideas, strategies and create a shared value that maximizes the impact of education on the African continent. The half-day event offers a knowledge sharing ecosystem for participants from academic institutions, governments, non-profits organizations and industry to leverage on their collective competencies to properly educate the African population. Participants include representatives from ministries of education, accreditation boards, development agencies in education, corporate executives, employers. Attendance is by invitation.
